“Thank you for all your assistance you have given Anne over the years. We would not be where we are now without you and Anne able to confidently end year 12. “

Parent of Anne 17 year old student, Geelong region

“We are really thankful for your work with Paul - people often say "thank you for your help" which I find insulting, because what you have done for Paul arises from the combination of your skill, expertise and experience, perseverance, and manner; it has not gone unnoticed.

I don't know if I can say much more than that at this stage, other than thank you; I am quite affected by everything you have done for him.”

Parent of Paul, 7 year old student Geelong region

“I wanted to let you know that Jen finished her degree last year. She achieved a distinction grade which we are all very proud of. Last year she worked really hard on her writing of her thesis. I was very impressed at how hard she worked and her dogged commitment to getting it done. I could see her using all the techniques and strategies that you taught her. She achieved a distinction for her thesis which was amazing and pleasing. I thought you may like to know this as I believe it was all the hard work you and she did that lead to this outcome.
She now has a full-time job at a firm in Torquay. She is doing very well. I am so proud of her. She never let her learning challenges defeat her. So thanks for all you did to help Jen. It has been wonderful and I believe she will benefit from your teachings for the rest of her life.”

Parent of Jen, Adult learner, Geelong region

“After our son was diagnosed with Dyslexia at 7 years of age, we realised that he would need extra support at school. Finding help was not easy as there are very few people in Geelong who are trained in this field. I contacted Positive Learners after reading some testimonials on the internet and also receiving Candice’s name as a recommendation from a teacher-friend at one of the local schools. Candice started tutoring our son in 2016 and we have not looked back. It is so reassuring to know that he is being taught in ways that make more sense to him and the results have been amazing. Our son is more confident in reading and he is making good progress with his writing. He has gone ahead in leaps and bounds in the year and a half that he has spent with Candice and we cannot speak highly enough of her dedication to him and her passion in helping kids with learning difficulties. She is interested in each child's interests and does her best to find ways of teaching them with those interests in mind.

We would love to see the supply meet the demand for tutors in this area of learning difficulties but we know from experience that at this point demand is far-outweighing the supply. We are thankful for the opportunities that Positive Learners have given our son in helping him reach his full potential.”

Jeanette, Parent 9 year old student, Geelong region, Austrailia

Candice has been working with our son for 4.5 years. As a parent of a child with dyslexia, ASD and ADHD, finding the right supports is always challenging, but Candice has truly been a godsend.  Candice has a profound understanding of dyslexia and its impact on learning.  Her patient and encouraging approach ensures that sessions with her are always a good experience.  What sets Candice apart is her ability to make learning enjoyable and engaging.  Oliver learns best through games and stories, and so Candice will always use games and facts on his favourite subjects to facilitate his learning.

Candice has built Oliver’s confidence enormously.  Although school is challenging, Candice always ensures her sessions are comfortably just in his stretch zone, with plenty of achievable goals, so that Oliver always has a sense of success and achievement, which is how he learns best.

Communication with Candice is always open and forthcoming.  There are regular updates with targeted areas for us to work on and reinforce at home.  In lots of ways, I feel I am learning as much as Oliver is during these sessions.

I wholeheartedly recommend Candice to any parent seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate dyslexia tutor.

"Candice has been tutoring our 5 1/2 year old for over 3 months now. Her literacy skills were behind and she was struggling to put a simple word together let alone read a short sentence. After this short amount of time she began to read sentences and had the confidence to attempt to sound out the more difficult words in order to read them which she would never have attempted to do earlier on. Her class teacher even commented on the improvement and said she had jumped 3-4 levels in her reading over the summer holidays. Candice has always been very professional, kind, positive and a wonderful support towards not only our child but towards us too. Our daughter enjoys the sessions and really loves Candice. She makes learning fun and creative which I feel is a gift she has working with others. She is extremely patient and a delightful person. Thank you Candice for your much appreciated support."

Sandra, parent of prep/ year1 student, Victoria, Australia

“I am extremely happy with Adam's progress. On Friday (yesterday) Adam got called up at school assembly and received a Principal’s award for all his efforts, hard work and positive attitude. A lot of this is greatly because of his outside school tutoring and all of your hard work, thank you. I feel and see some positive changes but think we are just starting to see the benefits and there is a long way to go. I am also very happy how well Adam is going, as in getting him there with little fuss, and also how well he seems to get on with you which is a credit to you and the way you teach.”

Pete G, parent of Grade 5 (10 year old) student, Geelong region, Australia

"Lachlan was very resistant to the idea of attending tutoring, but right from the 1st session he enjoyed it. He warmed to Candice straight away, and has not complained about going back since! I have been thrilled with the improvement so far in his spelling and writing, but the biggest plus for me has been the massive improvement in his self-esteem & self-confidence. His whole attitude towards reading, writing & spelling has changed. He now believes that he can do it !! Candice took the time to figure out his learning strengths and needs, and has a very calm, positive & inclusive approach. As a parent I appreciate the detailed but easy to understand, instructions for homework & the feedback. I can’t thank Candice enough for working her magic with my son."

Mel K, parent of Grade 5 (10 year old) student, Geelong region, Australia

“My daughter was assessed recently by Candice. My daughter said Candice was lovely and very caring and made her feel really relaxed during the assessment. When I received the report I was surprised how easy it was to read and understand; it was so useful and enabled me to make a plan to help my child move forward with her education. I have found Candice so helpful and understanding; whenever I have contacted her for extra help and advice she has always responded with a couple of suggestions.”

Linda, Parent of 11 year old following diagnostic assessment for dyslexia, Hampshire, UK

John S, Parent The International School of Azerbaijan (TISA), Azerbaijan

“A skilled and reliable colleague who shows professionalism in all aspects of her work and in her interaction with colleagues and students. She has a comprehensive understanding of the strategies required to help her students reach their full potential. She is warm and caring in her relationships with students and will always put the maximum effort into catering for their needs. She is calm and tactful in her dealings with colleagues and I find her a pleasure to work with.”

Basilia Mudzudzu, Learning Support Coordinator TISA

“She has been our expert and the proof of her success is in the SATs [Standard Achievement Tests at the end of primary school] results for all the children who had the privilege of working with her. One child in particular with a diagnosis for dyslexia made 2 levels of improvement over the year she worked with Candice.”
